Kansas farmers plan to sow more corn soybeans
Kansas farmers expect to plant 4.4 million acres of corn and 3.9 million acres of soybeans this spring, both up from last year, while sorghum seedings drop to 2.7 million acres. Weather and market factors may shift actual planting, says Sue Schulte of Kansas grower groups. Winter wheat plantings last fall totaled 9.3 million acres, down 2 percent, with dry conditions enabling early field work this spring. Kent Moore notes only minor shifts in crop mix despite small percentage changes.
