Brownback signs bills aiding universities and insurers
Gov. Sam Brownback signed two higher education bills into law allowing Kansas to join a regional online education standards group and to buy property insurance from non admitted carriers. The measures aim to broaden distance learning access and expand insurer options while safeguarding against risks. Separately, multiple Kansas defendants received prison sentences in drug and murder cases, including Brandi Bivens for conspiracy to distribute opioids and Susan May whose sentencing was delayed in a fatal backyard death.
