Democrats Nominate Delegates at Douglas County Convention
The Democratic county convention met in adjourned session at the court house with D. H. Lewis as chairman and C. C. Seewir as secretary. Ward and township committees were appointed to select nominees for county central committees. Nominations included Alfred Kraus and others for Eupora, John Kelly for Kanwaka, Wm Nace for Lecompton sheriff, Stanley Leonard for county clerk, Dr J H Leary treasurer, Theo Brown register of deeds, Dr A J Anderson coroner, T C Darling surveyor, and R W Sparr commissioner. The convention adjourned and a reunion of veterans is planned.

The Dovaias county People's Party convention met at the O. O. F. hall with wide representation from all townships. Dr. George Leary was named chairman and W. F. Wakefield secretary as delegates discussed a county slate including Sheriff William Nace, Lecompton County Clerk S Learned, Dr. Leary for Treasurer, Dr. Arthur Anderson Register of Deeds, and others. The session opened at 10:30 am, adjourned for lunch, then resumed at 2 pm to ballot. The Columbus Cup coursing results highlighted Prince Charley and other entries. later events included talks by Susan B. Anthony and Mrs Emma Smith De Voe on Woman Suffrage at City Hall, with commentary on organization and funding.

Murder shocks St Louis youth Shannon Walsh in Colorado to Taos pursuit
The Gazette cites the St Louis Post Dispatch report of Shannon Walsh, 20, eldest son of a prominent St Louis family, killed near Aguilar after leaving a ranch with John K. Key. Two Mexicans, Theo Vigil and Martinis, allegedly fired on him and fled toward Taos, New Mexico, as a posse pursued. Walsh had western health rescue attempts, studied at Georgetown, was an athlete, and had strong ties to St Louis and Washington.

The late W F M Trust Co home debenture securities with face value near 4a million dollars were brought from Denver to Lawrence. G W E Griffith, the company receiver, resigns as trustee with M G Manley named successor after managing the papers. Manley, acting as agent in Lawrence, secured confidence of all parties in the securities and will handle them carefully.
