Lawrence Provement Anedation Holds Annual Meeting in Y.M.C.A. Hall
The Lawrence organization held its annual meeting at the Y.M.C.A. Hall. Officers elected for the year: B. W. Woodward president J. A. Lippincott vice president Wm. T. Sinclair treasurer Alfred Whitman secretary. Directors listed include F. O. Marvin Alex Monroe M. Newmark A. D. Weaver and others. A committee was formed to solicit new members and assess eligibility related to property issues. A parking ordinance amendment was discussed along with petitions for various city ordinances targeting livestock, hedges, and street improvements. An accident report noted Dr. Albert Newman and wife injured when a horse bolted near Fairview church. The Holton Signal reported a former Lawrence man's marriage on stage after a theater performance. The University faculty restricted flowers at commencements and barred under-14s from the exercises. The First Baptist annual noted 70 additions and 40 removals, total membership 390, funds raised $2,757.53. Marriage certificates were granted to several residents, and a lecture on Richard Wagner was given by Prof. Morrill. Miss Maud Akers of North Lawrence was surprised by friends recently.
