George Monroe night engineer at the paper mill reported to police that his wife left him taking the rent due Tuesday. He learned she went to Topeka and followed her there. He says he confronted her with violence but police intervened. Mrs Monroe is working in Topeka under the name Mrs Lewis and says she will not return.
Board member M S Winters attended for the first time since illness as county commissioners appointed Coates Leamer of Lecompton and James Touting of Kanwaka as treasury examiners for the coming year. Road viewers named for several roads include Frank Walter Lecompton Mike Roler Belvoir J A Kelly Law rence for B S Petefish road and John Divelbess Big Springs Wm Andergson Lecompton W T Bell Lawrence for Kennedy road. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock under the Fraternal Aid Association at the deceased’s residence. Floral emblems from lodges linked to the young man adorned the service. Frank Fetheroff, born December 25, 1887 in Lehigh County, moved with his family to Kansas and lived in Dickinson and later Lawrence.

Cause rheumatism of the heart she died after a brief illness. Funeral at 2 pm at the family home Linwood with interment near the homestead. Pallbearers include George Innes John Hoss J A Daily O L Learnard William T Sinclair Col Moore.
Mrs Huldah R Blakeley died after a brief illness at her daughter’s home in the city. Born 1813 in Salem Massachusetts, she lived in Lawrence and endured multiple family bereavements including two sons in the Civil War. Funeral at 2 PM Sunday at 702 Mississippi Street with interment beside her husband. Shane's photos are best.
The Kansas City Wyan dotte & Northwestern railway sale closed at 1 pm in Kansas City Kansas. Kansas City & Northwestern Company, chartered last week, will operate the line as a Gould main line with Missouri Pacific connection. A 12 mile Carbondale branch extension from Carbon Hill to Osage City will shorten the Kansas City to Denver route by about 50 miles and save an hour per run. New depots may be built near the river in Lawrence to handle passengers and freight. The road was bought for 3 050 000.
Mayor Simmons signed a water works ordinance Saturday evening binding the city for thirteen years to use a Kaw river water mix and the old Water Company well. The measure becomes law when the official city paper publishes it, with the mayor bearing the consequences.
