In Carcano Otto Wasmansdorff a veteran banker of more than twenty five years shot himself amid financial reverses. His firm Wasmansdorff Meinnemanen failed a week earlier in the National Bank of Illinois collapse. His wife was ill and depositor criticism weighed on him as liabilities reached four hundred fourteen thousand dollars. He was described as conservative and honest.
