Prohibition Clubs Face Water Works Hazards and Church Meetings

The Lawrence Prohibition club, three years old, holds biweekly meetings on both river sides in venues like Grand View hotel, Christian church, Brown's hall, and local churches. A lighted lamp in a tree near Father Rumery's caused distraction as members rode through a trench on Locust Street, leading to a dramatic wreck where a horse and buggy nearly fell into the open trench. the horse was freed after about fifteen minutes of effort by the mostly working members.
