Rural Letter Carriers of Jones and nearby counties plan a meeting at Laurel on September 6 at the courthouse starting 1 30 PM with public speaking at 3 PM. All car riders and substitutes urged to attend along with as many patrons as possible. Lost horse notice included.
The Laurel Farmers' Union says it will delay establishing a warehouse until development progresses. Local leaders cite uncertain demand and funding gaps as reasons to wait, aiming to avoid premature investment.
The Compress Company reached a favorable contract with the Union, delaying the warehouse building ultimatum as farmers gain cheaper cotton storage. Meanwhile Beatty hotel’s foundation nears completion at Magoolia and Oak streets with walls rising.
Farmers receive refunds of arrears related to their subscriptions to the proposed Union Bank. The notice notes repayment of overdue amounts and clarifies the status of the subscription program.
State versus the Wrought Iron Range Co. ends in favor of the Wrought Iron Company. court action concluded with a ruling favorable to the defendant.
All Jones County stock subscribers to the Farmers Union State Bank have been refunded except James Bush who still holds ten shares paid at $50. The bank's treasury funds were exhausted on charter fees, but officials expect Bush to be reimbursed. A warehouse meeting in Ellisville approved joining the State federation, tying local gains to central management. The first cotton bale bought by Ruffin Mercantile Co. paid 12 cents, with a barrel of flour given to O S McKenzie. The Magnolia Stove Co. suit against Wrought Iron Range Co. dissolved. injunction lifted and $150,000 damages withdrawn. O Ferrall and Todd returned from St Louis and New York with fall goods for O Ferral Mercantile Co. and Miss Florence Hall resumes tailoring work. Other notices include visits, deaths, and local commerce updates.
Mr. T. F. Buntyn, the Beard Buntyn salesman, has formed a connection with the Dunagin Whitaker Co. He sends hearty good cheer to friends from the drygoods department and invites them to call on him there.
