News reached town on Tuesday of twenty one holes in the woods two miles west of Laurel. Officers visited the scene with citizens finding nine keystone shaped graves near Mr Reeves place and ten coffin shaped holes two feet long two feet deep. Holes are fresh not more than a week old and baffle explanation.
A $100 Forbes Piano Co certificate can be bought for $25 and transferred to any buyer. Purchase before May 31 1909 to use the certificate for a Forbes piano. offered by J. M. Lindsey.
Thos. J. Lyon and family visited relatives near Heidelberg late in the week. Minnie Welborn and the Johnson and Lyon families spent Sunday at the Myrick home. N J Welborn visited North Jasper kin while Riser family attended Palestine services and Ray Hamilton joined Old Union meeting. Welborns and John Myrick hosted a Sunday gathering. Master Howard Staples from near Heidelberg is visiting relatives here.

A Y M C A rally features Ex-Lieutenant Governor Shands as speaker at 4 p m. Laurel men are urged to attend with a musical program led by Mr. Phil Rogers. A gift to the Y M C A from Mr. Loyd includes twenty seven Britannica volumes donated after the boy’s death.
The shacks and awnings on the H K Rowell Front Street property have been removed. J C Griffin leveled the lot, paving the way for a brick replacement, which will greatly improve the city's impression for travelers once all shacks are replaced.
The West Tallahala Singing Convention meets Indian Springs Church on the 29th and 30th this month. Everyone is invited and a grand time is expected.
Last Saturday night two African Americans visited Hicks Mercantile Co to view clothes. One was found concealing a pair of shoes. police arrested him. On Monday he posted bond while Allen Boutwell traced another suspect, Joe Page, tied to pants and a suit from Hicks Mercantile Co and O Ferrall. The rain Monday was heavy.

R F D No 5 Route 5 began May 1. The 28 mile route from Myrick to Strengthford will be served by carrier John S Blackledge. The Mississippi Drug Co advertises Lily Pudding as a Friday delicacy.
A public picnic is planned at Lindsey Park tomorrow with city officers attending. Various attractions will be offered to attendees, promising a lively community event.
Laurel defeats Meridian three straight games in Friday and Saturday action in the Meridian City League. Mulholland Stringer and Beard hold for Meridian as Laurel plates 12 to 4 in Friday’s opener, then 4 3 and 4 2 in Saturday twin bill with Webb Coleman Sykes and Briggs behind the Laurel pitching and hitting.
M Laurin will address the public at Lindsey Park on July 3rd, according to a letter published in the States. The event invites residents to hear the speaker discuss local matters and upcoming plans.

The Tullahoma club announces a concert by the Chicago Glee Club on Thursday evening May 27. The group delivered a pleasing program two years ago and will again perform vocal quartets and trombone selections. Admission is 50 cents with no reserved seating, concert starts promptly at 8 15 p m.
A number of people from Sharon were in Laurel on business. Mrs Denham was in Sharon on a short visit last week. Rev Gilbert preached to a large congregation Thursday night. J M Pharis was in town on business Monday. Mamie Pharis returned from Hattiesburg Monday. A large crowd attended prayer meeting Saturday night at Mrs Davis home. Mrs Pace and daughter of Eucutta were visiting relatives here last week. Crops are good through this section. Farmers busy but a rain decked their work. Tate Company mosquito bars. R D McArthur and family of Meridian spent weeks here and returned home Monday.
