The week’s social calendar features Mr Hinton hosting an elegant stag dinner in Lambertton and the Misses Rowan entertaining the bridal party in Laurel. Local clubs plan meetings at Addison Hotel and Mrs Stuart Jones’s home, with students and families attending commencements, essays, and presentations at Millsaps College and related societies.
Work on the city street extension toward Kingston has concrete progress with a newly built bridge and immediate grading to follow. When finished, the avenue is expected to be one of the city’s key thoroughfares. Additional street improvements are reported across the city. White Dove Flour is the best. A car load at Warrens.
A large Laurel crowd enjoyed perfect weather as Laurel beat New Orleans 16 to 1 in the opener. Speedy Relf homered on the first pitch, while Krebs made a one handed grab at third. The second game ended 10 to 1 as Laurel won with better pitching and team play. Tomorrow’s game scheduled at four oclock.

Last Monday a week ago Mr W W Holifield a prominent farmer near Mossville and a neighbor killed a mad dog near his place The dog belonged to Mr Jeff Harrington and was in hydrophobia after biting several other dogs All bitten dogs were killed and officials hope the disease is stopped Railroad Commissioners Here S D McNair president and J C Kincannon of the Mississippi Railroad Commission met Laurel merchants to discuss freight adjustments Meridian enjoys three to six cents per hundred pounds and the commission aims to prevent discrimination
St John’s Episcopal Church offers a morning service with sermon at 11 o’clock on Sunday. The subject is The Soul that Sin meth, it Shall Die. Evening service and sermon at 8. The Young Churchmen and friends meet at 7:15. Sunday School starts at 10. Rev. W T Allan, Rector.
