At a Laurel board meeting on May 4, B A Small was unanimously chosen as general secretary to succeed himself. Despite a prior resignation, a signed petition led to withdrawal. Laurel’s YMCA, founded three years ago, now boasts 345 members, a large auxiliary, owned quarters valued at 12500, a gym, and a growing library. The city, a milling and factory hub, emphasizes schooling with a big program for those lacking education. In 1904 the association had 20440 visitors and 18400 baths, with four weekly bible classes planned for cooler weather. Small will visit Chicago, Cleveland and Dayton to pursue postgraduate work in physical education.
