Wausau officials conducted an inspection of local holdings after a special train arrived Monday at noon and departed Tuesday. The visit followed standard oversight procedures and included a review of property and records by city managers and inspectors.
Wausau officials surveyed holdings in Laurel over two days with a special car arriving Monday and departing Tuesday. The stock vote showed 324 against and 207 for letting livestock run at large, with no definite work plans due to current prices and markets.
The town election Tuesday delivered a strong majority against the proposed stock law. Voters backed the current rules and the Town Cow appears to have influenced local sentiment.

He confessed after jail visit and pled guilty. sentencing held for next week with expected ten year term. Deputy Luther Hill and Detective Flanagin tracked him to a farm as requisition papers were arranged.
The Farmers and Traders Bank of Laurel directors met on Wednesday and elected T. B. Bonner as president K. C. Hall as vice president N. W. Collins as second vice president and Cicero Ferrall as cashier. The bank will open once the building is turned over for occupancy.
Men and boys are invited to services next Sunday at 3 p m with Rev Jones of West End as speaker in place of Rev Holcomb. The topic is Sowing and Reaping and special music will be provided.

Miss Lahlia Clegg visits here this week. Cade Anderson of Laurel helps build the furnace for the new mill. Sidney and Cameon Graves attended Big Creek church. Miss Samma Easterling visits near Collings. Hebron boys attended a concert in Summerland. Gitano string band played. Mrs G B Quimby visited daughter. Mr and Mrs Rob Pickering welcomed a baby girl. Company E presents a splendid show under what is described as the most rigid drill in its history. Soldier boys are inspected as part of the event and the display draws praise from officers and spectators alike.
Monday night a government inspection of Company E Second Regiment M N G at the armory showed the unit at its best with 42 in line and 75 accounted for overall. Detachment from Mize joined, officers praised drill and ordnance, urging Jones county and Laurel to fund quarters and proper support for the militia.
