Chancery Clerk J H Crawford narrowly escaped injury when a man described as a burly black brute threw a brick bat at him on the way home from the court house. A second throw grazed his arm. a search party pursued the suspect across the N E railroad and a description led to a later arrest. Crawford suffered only a bruise, and the suspected assailant remains jailed.

Colonel Samuel McCants led the regiment with Bay Springs Mize volunteers joining, and two cars remained to accommodate them. The unit returned Tuesday night, tired but reporting a good time.

Hotel Hutto Destroyed By Fire In Strong Wind
