Hippodrome near ready for business on Front Street

The Hippodrome is nearly ready for business on the west side of West Front Street, north of Plum Street. A canvas and brass band are expected soon, and skating rink preparations will begin for the eager youngsters. A. N. Brunson and L. N. Thigpen are starting a building for J. D. Morgan in McDuffie Addition, having finished several Mossville houses and planning further work on the courthouse and jail.

Free Skates At City Rink This Saturday

Free skate time runs from 4 to 5 PM on Saturday afternoon with the rink open for an hour for skaters. At 7:30 PM the rink opens formally to the public and those who wish to skate may obtain skates on application.

Epworth League Meet Set for Laurel March 28 31

The Mississippi Conference of the Epworth league will gather in Laurel from Thursday evening March 28 to the evening of March 31. A reception for traveling leaguers is planned on arrival. Dr. H M DuBose of Nashville will be a distinguished speaker, and about two hundred delegates are expected.

Unlawful Sale of Tobacco to Minors

The Ledger notes it cannot fully report the unlawful sale of tobacco to under 18s due to space and will cover it next week. It urges merchants to read Sections 1082 and 1083 of the Code of 1906 for guidance.
