Endorsed Hilbun At Mass Meeting In City Hall
A large and enthusiastic crowd at City Hall Tuesday honored Henry Hilbun representative from this county. The meeting endorsed his bill creating two court districts in Jones county with Laurel as second district seat. The bill passed the House unanimously and the Senate 26 to 16, with an unconstitutional feature removed. Hilbun toured the county to gauge support as the measure returns to the House this week. About five hundred people attended from all sections. petitions regarding the proposed district have been mailed to Jackson. At night’s end Hilbun was escorted to his train by hundreds of citizens.

Shooting Affray Near Stringer Leaves Two Hurt
Ed Walters and Claude Harmon, young white men, were shot in the leg and neck respectively during a nighttime shooting affray along the M. J. and K. C. railroad track near Stringer, about fifteen miles north of Laurel. The assailants fired about twenty shots after someone yelled John, and the victims say they do not know who fired. No arrests or identifications reported.

Wreck on Northeastern Railroad Delays Trains
A Sunday morning wreck on the Northeastern railroad near Ellisville depot derailed the engine and five loaded boxcars, tearing track for hundreds of feet.
