A Christmas afternoon football game at South Mississippi College pitted college men against Laurel High School boys and ended in a decisive win for the college. Referee Cebe Morris and umpire Jim Ward, both of Ellisville, presided as local spectators noted the age and size gap. Later that night a basketball tilt between the Stars and the Y M C A’s finished 5 to 3 in favor of the Stars with both sides enjoying the lively play and crowd turnout.
Tension rises as three small stockholders block M K C Railroad actions in a bid for control. President Bird M Robinson denounces the move saying no cause exists and Dewey will be replaced. Friesa system may be pushing for control amid talks of a smooth path forward in coming days.
