Robbery Attack Leaves Elderly Mill Watchman Beaten
An elderly white mill watchman, T. W. Musgrove, 70s to 80s, was attacked by a man of unknown race at Anderson's mill south of town. He was struck with a knife and fists, knocked to the ground, gouged, and choked into unconsciousness. Cash and two pocketbooks were stolen. Two Black men were arrested on suspicion as investigators await further developments.

Mrs Harriette Martin Dies After Illness in West End
Mrs Harriette Martin wife of J W Martin died at her home in West End Thursday night at fifty six interment at Hickory Grove Friday under auspices of Woodmen Circle She had been in delicate health for some time and had recently improved before a severe illness The family moved to Laurel eight years ago from near Eckuta She was a member of Woodmen Circle Knights and Ladies of Honor Star of Bethlehem and an active Baptist church worker Her husband and six children survive her along with many relatives and friends.

DREAD LEPROSY LINKED TO CHINAMAN LAUNDRY
Patterson New Jersey December 18 A prominent young man contracted leprosy and sores appeared on his neck and toes. Investigators found a China man did the patient’s laundry and a Chinaman in advanced leprosy served others. The city’s largest Chinaman laundry employs ten men and many patrons, prompting calls to close all chinaman laundries. Health officers warn of possible epidemic and urge sanitary laws and removals to stop spread.

Agricultural Trains to Run on MA and O in Diversified Farming
A farm special train will run from Mobile to Columbus mid January as a traveling farmers institute. The Mississippi Agricultural and Mechanical College and experiment stations will direct similar trains, carrying farm and stock exhibits for the benefit of diversifying farming.
