Missing Man Freeman Found Dead in Tallahala Swamp
The body of farmer John Freeman was found Tuesday morning in Tallahala Creek swamp south of Ellisville after he disappeared Monday while feeding hogs. A dog guarded the scene, and a jury ruled Freeman died from unknown causes after a violent struggle, likely while trying to catch a hog.

A white inmate at Ellisville County Farm, named John Birdie, hanged himself with a leather belt tied to his cell door bars Sunday night. Supposed to be German, he was confined for vagrancy for ten days by Mayor's court.
