Kirkwood, A aged eighty six, dies at Laurel home
A Kirkwood aged eighty six dies at his Laurel home Tuesday morning after fifteen years in the city. He was born in Jackson County and leaves a wife age seventy four and six children. R F Kirkwood lives in Fopes, Miss. Interment at Hickory Grove. He joined the Methodist Church at nineteen.

Kye Taylor Attacked Near Eastman Gardiner & Co
Watchman Kye Taylor was found on his front porch early Thursday morning in a bloodied nearly frozen state with cuts and bruises. He alleges he was assaulted and robbed near the town business district by unidentified assailants. N P Welborn and Dr. Cook tended his injuries and he was carried home.

Card Lumber Co Begins Erection of Large Hardwood Mill
The Hugh C Card Lumber Co has begun a large hardwood mill in the northern city, across from Lindsey Wagon Co. The firm bought thousands of acres of timber in the territory and plans a saw mill with capacity of 15,000 a day. Payroll will be about 900 dollars weekly, boosting city business as most laborers are to be brought from Tennessee.
