Farmers Institute Held With A&M Professors

Thursday brought an A. & M. delegation including Professors Ames Moore and Ricks to address area farmers. Orange Herrington helped gather attendees as 2 PM sessions opened with talks on economic farming for commerce and utility, followed by discussions enriching all participants.

Y. M. C. A. Notes Invite Open Night and Events

The Y M C A announces its new hall will open Friday night August 31 with free admission, a musical program, and rereishments. Front seats are reserved for shop and factory workers and their families while all are welcomed, including non members. A special invitation goes to Eastman Gardiner and Kingston Lumber Company camps. Men’s meeting starts Sunday week September 2.

Laurel City Whistle Ban Ordinance of 1906 Adopted

Municipal legislation in Laurel Mississippi prohibits railroad trains from blowing whistles within city limits except to save life or property. Violations carry a fine up to 100 dollars or up to thirty days imprisonment, effective thirty days after passage. Signed July 26, 1906 by Mayor Pro Tem Andrew Flanagan and City Clerk F. P. Brivers.

Yazoo City Plans Big Trade and Carnival Week

Yazoo City under the Bus League prepares for a major Trade and Carnival Week starting Monday Oct. 8 with about $2,000 raised to fund the event. Gubernatorial candidates meet Tuesday, state candidates Wednesday, and U S Senators Williams and Vardaman addressed Friday. Williams home town hopes for attendance. Williams may return from Europe soon. Amusements, prizes for crops and livestock, and reduced railroad rates are planned to draw crowds from across the state.
