First Woman in Jasper Jail Since 1834 Revealed
Special to Dispatch from Bay Springs Mississippi describes Miss Eva Wooten of Louin Jasper County arrested for killing an infant. She reportedly traveled to visit relatives, returned with a baby hidden in a suitcase, drawing attention as the infant’s cries emerged on a coach. The baby was buried in a shoe box and she was jailed, marking the first time a woman occupied the Jasper County jail.
