Sergeant Daniel Manning of New Orleans, here on War Department duty to enlist for the U S Army, attempted suicide with his own razor. After collapsing in a pool of blood, he recovered briefly with medical help but died at 7:30 pm. A letter to his wife explains the act and lists his financial bequests to banks and to her.

Joe Knight in Buggy-Affray After Horse Incident
