Perry County Sheriff Dead In Laurel Mississippi
A report from Laurel says Perry County Sheriff R. E. L. Eaton died after a twelve day illness at the Laurel Hotel. The 31 year old, son of Capt. John Eaton, had served as deputy sheriff under T. E. Batson and was recently elected sheriff. His body was taken to Hattiesburg for burial in Eatonville. Dozens of friends and relatives from Perry county and Laurel attended the funeral.
