Chicago June 22 Associated Press. Roosevelt delegates to the Republican convention plan a mass meeting tonight to launch a third party movement. The name Progressive Party is favored for a convention to name a ticket in coming weeks. Taft supporters clash with Roosevelt followers as seating moves proceed and charges of willful bias are leveled at credentials.
Meridian, June 22. The city tops Mississippi in capital invested in manufacturing enterprises, with nearly equal totals to the combined three next largest cities, Jackson, Vicksburg, and Natchez, trailing by about 34,000.
Chicago dispatch reports that Taft is virtually certain to be the Republican nominee as the convention closes tonight. Attention shifts to running mate choices with names such as Sherman Hadley Kenyon Borah Butler Wanamaker under discussion. Progressives may fight over new rules while Roosevelt faction hints at a joint progressive convention in August.
Associated Press reports from Baltimore and New York describe W. J. Bryan's planned opposition to Judge Alton B. Parker for temporary chair at the Democratic convention. Parker says he will not comment and has remained silent.
