Preparatory Departments at Two State Institutions May Be Abolished

Daily Argus Special notes the Mississippi legislature passed a bill to abolish the preparatory departments at the Industrial Institute and College for Girls in Columbus and the boys' school at Starkville. The move would end the need for new dormitories and cut state costs by about 200 dollars per student, shifting 813 pupils to high schools or agricultural schools. The reform aims to realign the state’s education toward agricultural mechanical and technical training.

At 9 a m today the government issued its semi monthly ginners report with 14 610 000 bales ginned for this period about 77 000 bales more than 1909 the largest crop before this one Memphis reports of 250 000 bales ginned were expected making the market rise 6 to 7 points. Good weather gins busy roads improving and port reports indicate a healthy advance ahead.
