Fire destroys Laurel livery stable and fourteen horses

A blaze at the Lee stable in Laurel, at Central avenue and Pine street, destroyed the brick livery and sales stable with fourteen horses aboard plus furnishings and stock. Losses exceeded twelve thousand dollars with small insurance. several boarders and local businesses, including Halbert Furniture and druggist R. A. Sergue, sustained damage. The fire began after a gasoline tank accident involving a green worker and a gas ignition, rapidly engulfing the building and spreading to the second floor before complete destruction within thirty minutes.
