Frisco Railroads Link Laurel to New Orleans Route
Frisco Railroad will run through Laurel via new trackage to New Orleans, linking Chicago Kansas City and other points to New Orleans and Mobile. The arrangement, with Louisville Nashville and New Orleans firms, positions Laurel as a Gulf gateway with a union station and planned twelve stall roundhouse and shops. The Argus reports Frisco railroad will inaugurate freight service through Laurel by the first of March. At least two trains will operate with crews being organized. Laurel men may join the new road, which will use N C and N E tracks from Laurel to New Orleans bound for the Northeast corridor.
