Walter, the manager of Ye Kings Rest Motel at 526 Las Vegas Boulevard South, was shot about 10 12 p m in an apparent robbery. He was found on his back behind a dead bolted office door as a six two inch young man in a plaid jacket fled south on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Students Escape After School Bus Fire
About 50 junior and senior high students escaped injury when a bus fire torched the vehicle near Henderson. Driver Jim Hunt smelled smoke, evacuated passengers at the Henderson cutoff, and reported the fire by radio before fleeing. The bus was totally destroyed and replaced. the cause is under investigation.
