Major Hughes Estate Claims Approved and Disputed
Judge Hayes approved more than 2.3 million in claims against the Howard Hughes estate led by a 2.2 million claim from Hughes Air West for stock purchase rights under a 1970 agreement. Other approved claims included 97,000 to Jean Peters Hough, plus two LA law-firm bills totaling over 12,000. Disapproved were 53 million from Lanier, MacGregor, and a large claim by Sheila Taylor seeking the entire estate. A Nov 5 hearing will consider Rhoden as substitute executor, with a Jan 10 trial on the will’s validity.
