ESOT Movement Grows as Internal Capital Aid in U.S.
The employee stock ownership trust, or ESOT, offers a cheaper path for companies to grant stock to workers and borrow against it. Advocates including Leaton and Kelso note rising activity in California and Florida, boosted by 1974 laws, but IRS guidelines remain elusive.
