Greenspun testimony on Summa loan notes and disputes

Las Vegas Sun publisher Hank Greenspun described the 1969 loan renegotiation and a prior $8 million promissory note as replaced by a second agreement while Beattie Greenspun said officials failed to secure full repayment. Culinary Union Pickets LV Clubs Over Wage and Benefits

Las Vegas culinary and bartenders unions picketed several supper clubs on the Strip including Flame and the Golden Steer. More clubs were expected to join daily as talks with Federated Employers continue. The union seeks a three to four year contract with $1.35 per shift directed to pension and health funds, while management argues no wage rise is requested, only higher benefits.

Las Vegas Baccarat Dealer Shot Dead Outside Home

Peter Joseph Bufala 34 a Strip baccarat dealer was ambushed and killed on his front lawn just after arriving home from MGM casino work. Neighbors heard explosions about 4:30 a.m. Police find $400 in tuxedo pockets, rule out robbery, and pursue interviews with Bufala’s friends and associates. Bufala survived by his widow and two children. he was part of MGM baccarat crew since 1973 and formerly ran a Tropicana sporting goods store. Born in Buffalo, he fought as featherweight and lightweight in the 1960s, last boxing bout in 1968 in Las Vegas.

Second Nuclear Cloud Drifts To Northeast U S

EPA reports a second radioactive fallout cloud from a China test moving over the eastern United States. It notes only slight air increases and some milk contamination in the Northeast, with no protective action needed. Environmental groups urge U.N. protest to push China into a test ban.

Manson Follower Held In Threats

Sacramento report says 42 year old William Marvin Griffith was arrested in Stockton and jailed on two federal extortion charges for sending letters threatening to kill President Ford and Gov. Brown unless Lynette Fromme and two other Manson followers were released. The case ties to Fromme who attempted to kill Ford in 1975.
