Prison Gambling Hall Proposed for Church Services
Nevada Attorney General Harvey Dickerson suggested converting parts of the state prison used for gambling into spaces for Sunday church services. Gov. Grant Sawyer pressed the prison board to address clergy concerns about facilities and to arrange private religious counseling for inmates. Warden Jack Fogliani noted space constraints and weather concerns, while plans for a chapel stalled pending a new entrance and guard tower funding later in the year.
