The claim of a June 1969 Hughes will surfaced in Las Vegas with Summa Corp named executor though Summa existed only from 1972. Claimed estate totaling about 2 billion would go to charities universities and ten individuals by Social Security numbers, with conflicting bequests to Hughes relatives.
A second Last Will surfaces listing one sixth of all assets to nine anonymous recipients by social security numbers, with a conflicting claim of ten. The document, mailed from Houston and arriving in Las Vegas, raises questions about authenticity and discovery methods as pages referenced Summa Corp. on page 4.
Perry Lieber of Summa Corp. calls the second purported Howard Hughes will a fake noting it names Summa as executor in 1969 before the firm formed in 1972. He cites handwriting plausibility and missing social security numbers as further red flags while Summa seeks the real will.

A former mental patient opened fire with a new .30-30 rifle on a downtown Knoxville sidewalk at lunch, killing two women and a man, and wounding three others. Police arrested 43 year old Robert David Patty, a former East Tennessee Psychiatric Hospital patient, as witnesses described a chaotic scene on the bench and nearby stores.
