Totie Fields Mottoed by Husband as Career Helper
Totie Fields credits her success to husband George Johnston who serves as her business manager and conductor. He redirected from a comedy career to steer her rise, supplying ad lib lines and managing finances. Totie notes television exposure boosted her fame through Ed Sullivan Merv Griffin Mike Douglas and other shows. She performs raunchy humor with a self deprecating edge and a tribute to Sophie Tucker.
