Pitcher McDowell Improves as Early Season Threat

This year he won seven of his first ten decisions and carries a 2.69 ERA. A few tough losses and lack of run support prevented a better record. His best knockout total is 15 in a 2-1 victory over Detroit on June 5. He struck out ten-plus in six of his 11 starts, and improved control may unlock his potential.
