Lockheed California Company showed the first fullscale SST mockup in Burbank to aid design refinements. The titanium craft named Lockheed 2000 would carry 266 passengers and fly at 1 800 mph, 70 000 feet, with cabin temps 70 to 75 degrees. Boeing also plans an SST contender.

Entertainer Among Victims In Gulfport Plane Crash
A DC 3 charter plane carrying 12 people including entertainer Dave Gardner crashed shortly after takeoff from Gulfport Municipal Airport. Two died and ten were hospitalized. Gardner his wife and two children were injured. Also aboard were Gulfport Police Chief Howard L Hobbs and his family.
