Nevada Supreme Court studies stricter judge financial rules
The Nevada Supreme Court voted to study tighter financial disclosure for judges from the court to police judges. Chief Justice Jon Collins said the issue will be referred for future study with help from the State Bar, noting no target date for completion and that current rules are non binding guidelines.

Jacobson Wins License To Reopen Tahoe Casino
Nathan Jacobson of Las Vegas wins preliminary permission from the State Gaming Control Board to operate Incline Village’s North Shore casino until Oct 31. The plan includes moving the operation across the street and renaming the site Kings Castle, with a June 1970 opening expected after adding 251 rooms to the Lake Tahoe Hotel complex.

Move Trial FUREKA Borders Reno Change of Venue
Beverly Hooper murder trial moved from local county to Washoe County Reno due to jury selection failures. Judge John Sexton granted the defense bid and set the trial to begin July 21 in Reno. Hooper, owner of the Lincoln Hotel, faces charges in the death of Blanche Olinger found April 25, 1967. a 17 year old witness escaped after being bound and gagged and reported the case to Sheriff Sorholus. Bail remains at 35000 dollars.

Group withdraws Reno Holiday Hotel purchase deal
A buyer group called Holiday Gambling Co and International Leisure Hosts Ltd bowed out of purchasing Reno’s Holiday Hotel. The Nevada Gaming Policy Board’s new rules for publicly traded corporations prompted the withdrawal, as Harry J. Cavanagh, secretary, stated in a letter.
