Hawaii Air Routes Pondered
The Civil Aeronautics Board reopened a five year old case on adding a third airline between the West Coast and Hawaii and began a new Pacific wide air service study. It will consolidate the mainland Hawaii and international proceedings into one investigation. The Transpacific route case dates to 1960 with Western Airlines California to Hawaii and proposed Tokyo routes for Northwest and Pan American facing competition from Northwest and Pan Am.
