Plan Probe for Year of Quiet Sun Observations
U S scientists plan an intensive study of Earth's magnetic field during the Quiet Sun year ahead. Observations will run with minimal solar activity, coordinated with about 20 nations including Canada, using Coast and Geodetic Survey stations in Alaska, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Guam, and two new Antarctic sites. Micro pulsations linked to auroras and solar particle events will be a focus.
