Nevada arts info announces summer art courses for elementary and secondary students starting Monday June 17. Apply at the school principal's office now. Registration is Thursday June 13 with a $25 tuition for a two hour daily class, five days a week through Friday July 26.

Chief Investigator G E Sayles said Lavaughn Williams and William Fenwick of Boise were arrested in Winnemucca for negotiating the sale of a Humboldt County ranch as unlicensed Nevada real estate brokers. They waived rights for a preliminary hearing and were held for district court on a gross misdemeanor charge with $1,000 cash bail each.
Nevada voters face a proposal to raise the sales tax from two to three percent. Supporters claim revenue funds highways and local needs while opponents warn most burden falls on working families. Summers note schools would not be earmarked. states aid to districts totals over $49 million, while the tax would raise about $43.5 million with $10 million yearly for added state aid.
