Mental Patients Rampage on Roof of Sreadmoor Hospital
Two mental patients William Doyle and John Le Cointe aged 17 and 38 seized from attendants and perched on the hospital roof for 24 hours. They smashed slate tiles, drilled holes, and returned to the roof after drinking water as staff watched from dawn to night. Medical officials refused to risk staff and stood by.
