Turkish officers will assume control of 12 U S bases in Turkey today affecting six remaining under Turkish control. Six bases will keep limited operations while others, including four signals intelligence sites and a Sixth Fleet station, halt activities. The move follows U S arms embargo and Cyprus invasion fallout, with NATO potential resumption for eavesdropping sites.
Washington police sergeant testified that a woman’s bra and negligee hung on a jail cell door when he found Beaufort County jailer Clarence Alligood’s bloodied, partially nude body in Joan Little’s cell.
