Vietnamese and American forces fought to repel a large assault on Tan Uyen as North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops swept through the town at night. The attack, aimed at overrunning the district capital, left 110 homes burned while U.S. gunships, artillery, and bombers aided South Vietnamese defenders before dawn.
