Tropicana owner fined $50,000. $500,000 to investors

The Nevada Gaming Commission fined Edward Doumani $50,000 and ordered repayment of $500,000 to investors who funded Tropicana casino holdings, following a 3-2 vote. Some investors, including William Blatty and Norman Lutz, were denied licensing and may pursue civil action. payments to others begin June 30, 1977.

State Energy Plan Seeks Strip Blackout and Lighting Cuts

Nevada Governor Mike O'Callaghan announced an energy saving plan calling for executive orders and PSC regulations to curb nonessential lighting and natural gas use. Exporting From Israel Encouraged At Pacific Automotive Show

A delegation from Israel's Ministry of Commerce and Industry visited Las Vegas to boost Israel US exports. Director General Dr. Moshe Mandelbaum cited 1976 exports of 440 million to the U.S. and a 1977 target of 550 million. He spoke during a tour of the Pacific Automotive Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Six Israeli exhibitors participated.

Argent Corp Officials to Testify on Duties and Supplier Ties

Allen Glick's Argent Corp executives must appear before the state Gaming Commission in a public hearing next month to explain duties of certain employees and the company's relations with suppliers. Pete Echeverria, commission chairman, said a Wednesday closed-door investigative hearing by the Gaming Control Board was unsuccessful. Mistrial Declared in Greenspun Summa Suit in Los Angeles

U S District Judge Warren Ferguson granted a mistrial in the antitrust case brought by Hank Greenspun, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun, against Summa Corp led by Howard Hughes. The judge asked for a new trial and noted material letters and editorials about McCarthyism referenced during the proceedings.
