Police arrested a non student for loitering on the Clark High School campus amid tension as Black students reportedly refused to attend classes. The incident followed protests that flared on campus yesterday.
In Saigon near the presidential palace Maj. Gen. Nguyen Van Kiem was seriously wounded by a grenade attack. Two other people were hurt as assailants struck a sedan. no arrests were reported. The incident follows prior assassination attempts in the city.
Black students in Las Vegas received amnesty after a three hour session with Dr. James I. Mason and leaders of the Afro American Club. The meeting began at 1 p.m. with the county school chief and his aide meeting with club leaders following a day that included over 250 Black participants.
In Las Vegas the crisis over Black Afro-American Society linked events at Las Vegas High Clark High and other campuses prompts officials to demand calm. Superintendent Jim Mason points to leadership of the Afro-American group while law enforcement braces for further disturbances as schools reopen with heavy police presence.
