In Haysville a police marksman shot and killed Larry Lear after a nine hour siege in a south central Kansas home. Six hostages including Lear’s girlfriend were released after officers, Lear and two other volunteers swapped places. One officer was grazed by a bullet. negotiations had continued through the afternoon.
