Construction Slowdown Triggers City Building Dept Cuts
Las Vegas officials said ongoing construction slowdown will reduce the city building department staff from 45 to 23, with three more layoffs next month. The cutbacks, based on seniority, aim to align expenditures with permit-derived income after 1964 permits totaled about one third of 1963’s record $100 million. In separate news, three Boulder City youths found likely remains of a man in a remote wash near Three Kids Mine, with no foul play evident.
