Rain Slick Roads Trigger Las Vegas Mishap Spree
Christmas Day rain turned Las Vegas into a crash maze with more than 18 accidents reported in short order. Highway Patrol crews worked four crashes simultaneously at one point and dispatched to two more injury incidents within five minutes on Paradise Road. Two teens suffered major injuries when a powerline road crash sent them to Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital. Thomas Barney 15 and Patrick Langer 14 were treated for severe injuries while riding motorcycles side by side after handlebars locked and they plunged down a seven foot ravine. A Phoenix woman sprained her back when a trailer jackknifed on Boulder Highway.
