Two Nellis Airmen Die in Desert Plane Crash
Two Nellis Air Force Base airmen died when their F-111A or similar fighter-bomber crashed into the desert north of Las Vegas during a bombing range exercise. Lt. Col. Thomas J. Mack, 38, of Viola Illinois, and Maj. James L. Anthony, 35, of Big Springs Texas, were fatally injured. both apparently perished on impact with no ejection. The crash occurred at 7:30 a.m. during a series of air-to-ground runs.

Dc6 Crash At School Kills 125 In South Vietnam
A South Vietnamese DC6 with four engines made an emergency landing after an engine explosion, then skidded off the runway and crashed into a school and a shantytown in Nha Trang. Officials feared up to 125 dead, with more than 60 aboard and 40 to 50 children among the casualties plus others in nearby dwellings. American names were reported among the passengers.
