Native Nevadan Walter Jonasen laid to rest in Henderson
Funeral services for Walter A. Jonasen 67 of Boulder City were held at Palm Chapel Henderson. He died Thursday in a local hospital and was buried in Boulder City Cemetery. A lifelong public servant he worked 42 years with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power rising to chief electric plant operator. He belonged to multiple Masonic bodies the Scottish Rite AAONMS and several rifle clubs. Survived by wife Bernice two sons a daughter a brother and eight grandchildren.

Lamm Opposes Water Diversion for Energy Projects in Colorado
Colorado Governor Richard Lamm told 500 delegates at the Colorado River Water Users Association that diverting agricultural water for shale processing and coal conversion would harm the state’s economy. He urged using ground water deposits, including Navajo sandstone, for energy needs to protect surface flows for farming and communities. He warned against large federal water decrees and urged priority funding for salinity abatement in the basin. Meanwhile in Dallas, authorities recovered most of 2.4 million dollars in missing US Treasury notes after arresting Ernest William Eggers of Austin.
